LOCAL EXPERT GOES GLOBAL WITH GREEN BUILDING PRESENTATION

October 20, 2008

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Green building is a hot button issue in today's energy conscious world and Nashville-based SSRCx, the commissioning subsidiary of Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. and its Sustainable Solutions Group is going global with the discussion.

Paul McCown, PE, LEED® AP, CEM, CxA, an engineer with the Sustainable Solutions Group, will present "Busting the Myth that Green Costs More Green" at the 8th Annual International Conference for Enhanced Building Operations (ICEBO) Oct. 20-22 in Berlin. ICEBO is a forum for the international community, including investors and developers, owners and facility managers, architects and engineers, researchers and policy makers, to discuss green building technologies, advancements and opportunities.

"It's a great opportunity to discuss the common misconception that building green will cost more than its return," said McCown. "Green should not just be an additive feature but should be integrated into the design process itself."

SSRCx is one of only four firms in the world to provide elite Continuous Commissioning ® service to its clients, exclusively through its partnership with Texas A&M University. According to Texas A&M, an ICEBO co-sponsor, the Continuous Commissioning® process will typically reduce 20 percent of a building's energy costs. The difference found in Continuous Commissioning® versus the traditional commissioning process is the opportunity for long-term savings through an ongoing system of monitoring energy consumption and the opportunity for follow-up commissioning.

SSRCx and Texas A&M were recently awarded a Continuous Commissioning ® project in Landstuhl, Germany.
