Ed McMahon, a nationally renowned authority on sustainable development, land conservation and urban design, will address The Dollars and Sense of Sustainable Development and join a panel of local experts for an interactive discussion with the audience about sustainability. Each local expert participating on the diverse and interdisciplinary panel will talk about sustainability from his or her discipline's perspective. Those panelists are:
Moderator -Tabitha Crawford, president of Rayan Solutions LLC; Engineering - Jamie Qualk, vice president of SSRCx Sustainable Solutions Group; Development - Randy Chastain, president of Parkside Homes; Public Policy - Jenna Smith-Sexton, environmental sustainability manager for the City of Nashville; and Careers in Sustainable Industries - Dodd Galbreath, director of Lipscomb University Institute of Sustainable Practices.
McMahon, ULI senior resident fellow on sustainable development, leads ULI's research and education activity related to green and sustainable development practices. He is an attorney, a community planner, a lecturer and an author. Formerly, he was vice president and director of land use programs at The Conservation Fund. He also is the co-founder and former president of Scenic America, a national non-profit organization devoted to protecting America's scenic landscapes.
The sustainability forum will be in Shamblin Theatre in the Bennett Campus Center at David Lipscomb University, 3901 Granny White Pike. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the forum is from 8-10 a.m.
