Appointment in Line with Company’s Strategic Growth Plan
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- First Tennessee announced today the appointment of veteran Nashville banker Doyle Rippee as Nashville regional president, effective May 3.
Rippee has three decades of commercial banking experience, most recently in senior positions with Regions/Morgan Keegan & Co., Inc. including executive vice president, general manager of corporate banking. He also was Tennessee president at Bank of America.
“Having someone of Doyle’s caliber to lead our Davidson County team is critical as we concentrate on the great opportunities before us here,” said Tony Thompson, Middle Tennessee market president. Thompson previously held the dual title of market president and Nashville regional president. “With Doyle on board, I will be able to focus all of my attention on our efforts to increase First Tennessee’s market presence throughout the region.”
Rippee’s appointment is part of the bank’s growth strategy to leverage human capital to further strengthen and grow its commercial market, and to work with qualified customers to meet their commercial loan and depository needs.
“First Tennessee has a tremendous commitment to Nashville, and I’m looking forward to working with its strong management team and advisory board to reach the bank’s goals in this key market,” said Rippee. “I’m also impressed with First Tennessee’s delivery system with financial centers in strategic locations, which is important to both individual customers and businesses.”
A longtime community leader, Rippee’s dedication to the community mirrors First Tennessee’s four cornerstones of giving: arts, economic development, health care and education. He serves as chairman for The Land Trust for Tennessee and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce Business Conditions Council. In addition, he is past chair of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, YMCA of Middle Tennessee and the Nashville Symphony. Rippee is a Leadership Nashville alumni and former capital campaign co-chair for Alive Hospice.
Rippee’s responsibilities will include managing the commercial, corporate, health care and business banking strategies in Davidson and Williamson counties. He will report to Thompson.
Rippee received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. He attended the ABA National Commercial Lending School, University of Oklahoma and Columbia University Commercial Bank Management Program.
