The program Shakespeare Allowed! began last October, and will continue over the next few years as participants come together once a month to read aloud one of Shakespeare’s works. The monthly reading schedule follows the order in which Shakespeare wrote the plays.
The Two Gentleman of Verona is scheduled to be read from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the downtown main library on Sat., May 2. The comedic play is about the Verona gentleman, Valentine and Proteus, and their dealings with friendship and infidelity.
The Nashville Shakespeare Festival invites everyone to bring their own copies of the play and participate, whether as one of the out-loud readers or to read along. Discussion to follow on the Nashville Shakespeare Festival Facebook page. Shakespeare Allowed! is a free event, open to the public.
Other scheduled programs include:
- Love’s Labor’s Lost, June 6 - Richard II, July 11 - King John, August 1
About Nashville Shakespeare Festival The mission of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival is to educate and entertain the Mid-South community through professional Shakespearean experiences.
