GREENWAYS FOR NASHVILLE TO HOST JUNE 7 MEMBER EVENT AT STONE HALL

June 05, 2009

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Greenways for Nashville  is hosting the first of three member events from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, June 7, at the historic Stone Hall on the Stones River Greenway in Hermitage, Tenn.

The event is free for all members and new members who join Greenways for Nashville at the event for a fee of $35 per individual or $50 per family.

Greenways for Nashville is a not-for-profit member organization raising awareness and private support for Nashville’s greenways initiative. Guests can tour the Stone Hall grounds, gardens and guesthouses, enjoy music and view artwork that will be on sale through Metro Parks’ arts program.  Stone Hall is an example of Colonial Revival architecture and the former home of Angie Cantrell Merritt Donelson Ezell.  It is located next to Ravenwood Country Club at 1014 Stones River Road in Hermitage, Tenn. It was acquired by Metro Parks and several private donors as a central park along the Stones River Greenway.

Serenatta, a Latin ensemble, will provide music and refreshments will be served in the historic Stone Hall. Serenatta features the lush rhythms of tangos from Argentina, bossa novas from Brazil, pasillos and bambucos from Colombia, joropos from Venezuela, waltzes from Peru, boleros from Mexico, and guaranias from Paraguay, among others.

The Nashville Greenways system includes more than 3,000 acres of Metro Parks land and some 11,000 acres of open space throughout Davidson County.

Other upcoming Greenways for Nashville member events are Thursday, July 16, at the
Beaman Park Nature Center and Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Bells Bend Outdoor Center.
