COMCAST LAUNCHES WIDEBAND INTERNET SERVICE TO BUSINESS CUSTOMERS

July 17, 2009

New Packages, Upgrades Available to Business Customers in Thirteen Communities Across Middle Tennessee

Comcast has launched blazing-fast wideband Internet service, offering small- and medium-sized businesses some of the fastest speeds available in Murfreesboro, La Vergne, Smyrna, Rutherford County, Dickson, Dickson County, Tennessee City, Kingston Springs, White Bluff, Burns, Charlotte, Pegram and Waverly.

As part of the wideband deployment, Comcast has introduced two new speed tiers to Business Class customers:

  • Deluxe, offering up to 50 Mbps of download speed and up to 10 Mbps of upload speed at $189.95 a month, and
  • Premium, offering up to 22 Mbps of download speed and up to 5 Mbps of upload speed at $99.95 a month.

Comcast Business Class Internet offers businesses a feature-rich, reliable and secure Internet solution.  With wideband technology, Comcast business customers can download a 500 MB set of digital x-rays in approximately 90 seconds, a 3GB presentation file in about 8 minutes; that would take over an hour on a 6 Mbps DSL service, and a 250 MB architectural plan in under 60 seconds.

Uploading files is also faster. For example, a customer can e-mail a 60 MB graphics file in less than a minute with Comcast Business Services Deluxe speed.  Along with Business Class Internet, customers enjoy Microsoft Communication Services, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Windows SharePoint Service, web hosting service including custom domain name, web site, and site-builder tool, advanced McAfee® Security Suite, and IP Gateway firewall protection installed and managed by Comcast,

"Faster Internet service and cutting edge technology are important differentiators for small and medium-sized businesses focused on increasing their productivity and efficiency to beat the competition," said John Gauder, market vice president for Comcast in Middle Tennessee. "Comcast is committed to helping local companies get ahead in the marketplace by providing a better business technology solution that offers faster Internet speeds, dedicated support and significantly more value than they can get from the phone company."

Comcast will continue the rollout in its Middle Tennessee market throughout 2009. To find out when wideband will be available, business customers can visit
www.comcast.com/fastestfast or call (615) 514-9000.
