FIRST TENNESSEE NO. 2 IN NATION FOR PRACTICES AND POLICIES REGARDING MATURE WORKERS

September 16, 2009

First Tennessee rose to second among the nation’s employers for mature workers, according to the 2009 Best Employers for Workers over 50 issued by AARP.

“First Tennessee strives to promote a culture of inclusion, empowerment and opportunity for a broad group of professionals,” said Doyle Rippee, First Tennessee Middle Tennessee market president. “We depend on the knowledge and energy that comes with a diverse workforce to help us meet the needs of the communities we serve. We are honored by AARP’s continued recognition.”

AARP recognized First Tennessee as one of the best employers for workers over 50 for the seventh consecutive year. AARP’s list acknowledges companies whose practices and policies best address the needs of mature workers. The companies were evaluated on innovative practices toward workers 50 and older including recruiting practices, education and career development, job sharing, flexible scheduling, health care and retirement benefits and workplace accommodations.
