FIRST TENNESSEE PARTNERS WITH THE RED CROSS TO TEACH MIDDLE TENNESSEANS HOW TO SAVE LIVES
October 26, 2009
Classes are example of First Tennessee’s move from traditional bank role In an innovative partnership with the American Red Cross, First Tennessee will host adult CPR certification classes in its Middle Tennessee financial centers during the next year. The year-long series of training sessions will certify individuals to correctly administer CPR. First Tennessee is subsidizing the cost of the classes to offer the course at a reduced price of $15 per person, said Paula Mansfield, vice president and work place banking manager for First Tennessee. Class dates are as follows: • Saturday, Oct.24 9 a.m. to 1p.m. First Tennessee Concord Hills Financial Center 7901 Concord Hills Drive Brentwood, Tenn. Registration deadline is Thursday, Oct. 22 • Saturday, Nov. 14 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. First Tennessee Indian Lake Financial Center 216 Indian Lake Blvd. Hendersonville, Tenn. Registration deadline is Thursday, Nov. 12 Those interested can pre-register at their nearest First Tennessee financial center. The CPR classes focus on health care and education, two of our four cornerstones of giving,” said Mansfield, one of six First Tennessee employees certified to train others in CPR. According to the American Red Cross, the ability to administer first aid and CPR during the first few minutes of a medical emergency is crucial to the survival and recovery of a victim. “The Red Cross wants the public to know that everyone has the power to save a life. At least one person in every household and on every office floor should be trained and certified in CPR,” says Tim Ryerson, CEO, Nashville Area Red Cross. “By learning simple rescue skills, you can go from a helpless bystander to a person with the ability to take control and help someone during an emergency.” While a full schedule of CPR classes will be mapped for 2010, there may be additional classes before the end of 2009, Mansfield said, depending on demand. “Our goal is to offer these classes in all 50 of our locations over the next year,” Mansfield said.
